The Altitude Advisory CA Achievers Program

By | April 28, 2019

Introducing Edward Allan & Courtney May – CA Achievers Program.

For the past 2 months, Ed and Courtney have joined Altitude Advisory as part of the Chartered Accountants Achievers Program. The program is a 3-day a week internship that runs for a 3-month duration, where participants are introduced to the real world of accounting and business advisory.

As current university students, both Ed and Courtney have learnt a lot over their time with us. Let’s learn a little more about them…

ED ALLAN

Ed is in his third year of a five-year double degree, studying a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Accounting) at the University of Adelaide. He is so far enjoying all aspects of these degrees, particularly learning how the world operates from a business point of view and how objective views need to be used to make decisions when it comes to the regulation of society’s obligations. He looks forward to finding a career path that combines both his interest in finance and law.

Five things Ed has learnt during his time with us:

  1. Gained experience and exposure towards a good office culture and extremely lively office morale.
  2. How to do many basic accounting tasks such as individual tax returns, business activity statements, monthly reviews and various excel work papers.
  3. How a firm such as Altitude Advisory operates in regards to client and adviser communication and what outcomes and advice are achieved in different solutions.
  4. How to use accounting software such as Xero and MYOB.
  5. Experience with office filing and document management systems and finding relevant documents for clients within these systems

COURTNEY MAY

Courtney is currently studying a Bachelor of Finance and a Bachelor of Economics at the University of Adelaide. She is in her third year of a four-year double degree. Although not entirely sure where her study will lead her as she is currently enjoying all avenues, Courtney is really looking forward to finalising her studies and beginning her career in the ‘real world’. She loves people and would ideally like to be in a role where she can help clients and interact with people.

Five things Courtney has learnt during her time with us:

  1. How Altitude Advisory runs
  2. How awesome the team is!
  3. How to lodge a company tax return
  4. How to use the Xero software
  5. How the accounting process works
